The UT-OSPO User Group met with the OSPO team to discuss needs, wants, and desires for the OSPO in the near future. The User Group identified developing strategy guidance for researchers using or developing open source software as part of their projects that will walk researchers through the various routes and decision points for open source software projects as key in supporting research that involves open source software. The UT-OSPO will work with the User Group members and the larger Open Source community to create a strategy and decision points document along with examples of successful open source software projects that are in the lab and that have been commercialized. The User group represents researchers across campus, including Timothy Kitt from Integrated Biology, Audry Brumback from Dell Med Neurology, Claus Wilke from Integrated Biology, Liberty Hamilton, from Speech and Language Sciences, Katy Brown from the Oden Institute, Masa Prodanovic from Petroleum Engineering, Franco Pestilli from Brain io, and Alex Knox from Enterprise Technology.
